Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) by Sabrina Carpenter: First Impressions

By

Hi, I am one of those girlies who loves a good pop album. I especially love tracks produced by Jack Antonoff. So this album, and it’s deluxe version, were clearly made for me.

I’m going to share my first impressions of the deluxe tracks. And no, I did not have early access to this version of the album. I just listened to the bonus tracks the second they came out. And wrote this blog immediately after that.

In the year of twenty-twenty-five, we could all use an extra dose of serotonin. *In an influencer voice*: Anyways, let’s get into it!

15 Minutes

This song is so upbeat and fun. I did have to listen twice because my computer was being slow and I couldn’t keep up with the lyrics. Which always happens and makes me frustrated, but I did enjoy the song, so I’m not mad anymore.

My favorite lyric from this song are:

“When did all you / bitches get so nice?”

I also love when she crashes out in the last bridge: “I’ll leak some / pictures maybe (No)” and “say somethin’ / batshit crazy / I’ll do it, don’t you / make me.”

Please Please Please (feat. Dolly Parton)

I love how their voices worked together! They took out the iconic m*****f***** line, but it’s okay because Dolly Parton is everything and we all know this collaboration meant a lot to Sabrina.

Best line of the song: “If you wanna go and / be stupid / Don’t do it in front / of me If you don’t wanna / cry to my music / Don’t make me hate / you prolifically.”

Couldn’t Make It Any Harder

This song is a slower, more emotional song.

There’s a poetic feel in these lyrics: “And for the / graveyard in my / stomach / Filled with pivotal / formative comments / Meanwhile, you’re just tryna tell me I / look nice.”

To me, the best lyric is the ending, because it shows so vulnerability on her behalf: “oh, one day, believe / me / You’ll want someone that makes it easy.”

Busy Woman

I am going to get canceled for this, but I hadn’t heard the entirety of this song until now, because I too am a busy woman.

This song is: fun, catchy, & iconic.

My favorite lyric is: “well, I didn’t want / your little bitch-ass / anyway.” That is a sentiment that we should all carry with us, because we don’t need a man/woman/they-them/etc. that’s going to keep us on read.

Bad Reviews

This song feels like a country song. Many will say that it is. And I agree.

The instrumentals and vocals are especially pretty on this song, it’s like I’m seeing horses & butterflies & drinking moonshine, even though I’m sober.

My favorite lyric is: “just want someone / to love me, who / doesn’t?”

Final thoughts:

This new version of this album is 10/10. If I ever come across an extra $50, I will be purchasing the vinyl edition of this album.

Happy Listening,

Audrey
